Many First World War stories like Tanner's are held by the RCN Archive in various formats. In 2017, the RCN Library and Archive Service received a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), to conserve, digitise and research ten First World War nursing scrapbooks, including Tanner's diary (Figs. Her writings, held at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Archive, span 1914 through to 1916. They were so enthralled that Service Scrapbooks: Nursing, Storytelling and the First World War Frances Reed N urse Beatrice Tanner kept a detailed diary of her experiences during the Great War.
