- Abstract
The article presents an examination into the historical connections between Geneva, Switzerland and the life of 19th-century Hungarian composer and pianist Franz Liszt. Details are given outlining Liszt's career as a teacher at the Geneva Conservatory in 1835 and 1836 and his apartment within the city where he lived with the Countess Marie d'Agoult. A reprint of a portrait drawing made of Liszt by his student Nancy Mérienne is given along with commentary regarding its history. Several excepts from Liszt's grading notes of students are also included.
