- Abstract
The article details the premiere, and provides critique, of the concert "Colindă-Baladă" by György Kurtág in Cluj (Kolozsvár), Romania. Performed by the Cluj State Philharmonic Chorus, the composition is based on "Cantata profana" by Béla Bartók. The colinda repertoire is examined for its love of the Sun and Moon and the platform of folk poetry. The author comments on the melody, score, and instrumental elements alongside the use of a tenor solo. The placement of "Colindă-Baladă" among the other musical works of Kurtág is discussed.
