- Abstract
The article presents a study which hypothesized that use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) increases the odds of invasive pneumococcal pneumonia in older and younger populations but that differences in the pattern of risk factors may provide clinical insights on prevention. Topics include link between chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), diabetes, and abuse disorders and increased odds of invasive pneumococal pneumonia and odds of invasive pneumococcal pneumonia associated with ICS use.
