Title
PKS 2155-304 outburst widely observed.
Abstract
The article reports that the HESS gamma-ray telescope in Namibia detected an unexpected energetic shower on July 27, 2006 from PKS 2155-304, a 13th magnitude active galaxy in Piscis Austrinus. A second gamma-ray outburst on July 29 was recorded by HESS and Berto Monard's visual light curve confirmed the activity. It was noted that Monard's V-band light curve showed that the gamma-ray burst HESS recorded coincided with the peak in visible light.
