- Abstract
The article discusses the significant political developments in Austria, particularly in the presidential election and institutional changes in 1992. The victory of Thomas Klestil in the 1992 presidential election over Social Democratic Party (SPO) candidate Rudolf Streicher, has made him the first Austrian People's Party (OVP) candidate to win a presidential position. The new electoral law in 1992 is considered the most significant institutional change in the year, which is intended to enhance the personalization of elections and improve the relationship between the citizens and their representatives.
