- Title
Determinants of mental health and well-being in rural communities: Do we understand enough to influence planning and policy?
- Authors
Allan, John
- Abstract
The author comments on the factors that influence mental health and well-being in rural communities in Australia and their implications for planning and policy. He asserts that the best models for mental health service delivery in rural and remote areas are often determined more by opportunity than evidence-based forward planning. Improving mental health services in such areas are affected by such factors as burnout and training of health workers and the financial cost of dealing with crisis over prevention.
