- Title
The Rural Medicine Conundrum: Steps in the Right Direction, and the Difficult Road Ahead.
- Authors
Chami, Goldis
- Abstract
The author reflects on efforts by Canadian provinces and medical schools to address the lack of physicians in rural and remote areas in British Columbia. According to the author, key factors contributing to this trend are an aging population and the growing number of retiring rural physicians. She points out that several incentives have been offered by federal and provincial governments to encourage physicians to practice in these areas. Information on high school outreach programs is given.
