- Abstract
We present results from a survey applied to 26 social-science students with ages between 17 and 18 years. A motion- related problem was chosen from a analytic geometry textbook for high school level students in Mexico. The problem text has confusing data that make text comprehension difficult. The interpretation of the students to such a text is analyzed as well as the drawings and solutions they give to the problem in question. The possible influence of logical reasoning and cognitive reflection on the solutions is discussed.
