- Abstract
The article presents information on a treatment trial to determine the effect of citicoline on functional and cognitive status in persons with complicated mild, moderate and severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). The method includes 90-day regimen of daily enteral or oral citicoline or placebo. The outcomes include functional and cognitiveimprovement examined at 30, 90 and 180 days and at the examination of the longtermmaintenance of treatment effects. According to the conclusion, the use of citicoline compared with placebo for 90 days among the patients with traumatic brain injury did not result in improvement in functional and cognitive status.
