- Abstract
The article presents the findings of a report, published in "Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report," which highlights the updates made in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention's (CDC) 2010 Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines. Under the report, the use of oral cephalosporins in the treatment of Neisseria gonorrhoeae infections is restricted. It provides the evidences and reasons for supporting its recommendation regarding cephalosporins. It suggests that combination drug therapy involving azithromycin, doxycycline, and intramuscular drugs can be helpful in treating N. gonorrhoeae.
