- Abstract
Keywords: combined first trimester screening; non-invasive prenatal testing Since 2011 there has been a paradigm shift from the cFTS to tests based on next-generation sequencing of placental cell-free DNA in the maternal circulation, also called genomics-based non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) [[3]], [[4]], [[5]]. 1 FISH, fluorescence in situ hybridization; aCGH, array comparative genome hybridization; cFTS, combined first trimester screening; NIPT, non-invasive prenatal testing; UZ Leuven, University Hospitals Leuven. Of the 18,045 cFTS tests performed during the study period, 531 (2.9%) indicated a high risk for either trisomy 21 (T21), trisomy 18 (T18) and trisomy 13 (T13).
