- Title
Chapter Two: Fichte's Theory of »Original« Geometry.
- Authors
Wood, David W.
- Abstract
The article attempts to provide a classification of the theory of geometry of the German philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte. It notes that Fichte's conception of geometry is neither a logical theory, such that of the dominant interpretation of German philosopher Immanuel Kant nor a reproduction of the finite conception of Greek mathematician Euclid. The author argues that geometry's theory of Fichte is a constructivist and synthetic model founded on the self evidence of geometrical intuition.
