- Abstract
The author discusses the plan of the National Committee on Enquiry to benchmark the subjects in the higher education in Great Britain. He is critical on the plan to benchmark English studies, as depicted on the documents due to be submitted to the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), the agency which establishes the benchmarking system. He states that the documents contents are worrying because it plans to re-integrate linguistic and literary study.
