- Abstract
The article discusses lawsuit filed by State of Virginia challenging the individual mandate provision of the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) which requires that all individuals not covered by an employer sponsored health plan, secure an approved private-insurance policy. It mentions enactment of Virginia Health Care Freedom Act which states that no person can be forced to buy health insurance and analyzes whether Virginia can sue ultra vires federal action of PPACA.
