The article discusses a portable terrain adaptable fall detection system that can be installed on mobile devices. Topics covered include the system's use of accelerometers and gyroscopes, the ability of the center of gravity clustering algorithm to compute the human body behavior patterns, and the high incidence of accidents from falling among senior citizens in the U.S. Also mentioned are the pros and cons of passive and active detection methods for sensor systems.
