- Title
THE AV-INTERVAL--DOES IT MATTER?
- Authors
Sancho-Tello, Maria José
- Abstract
The article presents several abstracts concerning A-V delays (AVD). One of the abstracts provides that in order to investigate the effect of a rate responsive AV delay (RAVD) in patients with dual chamber pacemakers (DDD) the cardiac output (CO) was measured at rest at varying AV intervals (AVI) (125, 175, 200, 250 and 300 ms) and during exercise with and without RAVD. With increasing heart rate the RAVD results in an automatic reduction of the programmed AVI of 75 ms. Eight patients with DDD because of AV block were studied. The CO was measured using the thermodilution technique.
