- Abstract
The article presents a study on the synthesis and properties of a new green water-soluble polymer for proton and metal-cation sensing. The polymer is based on 1,8-naphthalimide. The study examined the effects of protons and six metal cations on the fluorescence of such colored polymer. The results suggested that the newly synthesized compound could work as a polymeric sensor responding to water polluted by copper (Cu)2+, Fe3+ and protons.
