- Abstract
The author reflects on an article that describe epidemiological and environmental investigations into two cases of melioidosis. Topics discussed include investigation carried out by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Puerto Rico Department of Health, presence of Burkholderia pseudomallei in soil, and involvement of only three percent of population of Puerto Rico in agricultural work and rice farming.
