- Abstract
The article discusses the role that school field trips play in teaching history to U.S. college students, often referencing a field trip the author took his class on to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, California. The role that field trips play in learning through direct experience, including in regard to learning the history of Buddhism in Asia, is discussed. The attitudes and evaluations of students regarding the Asian Art Museum field trip are discussed.
