- Title
Purgatorio y pecado en la teología moral del siglo XVII español.
- Authors
Sanz Larroca, Juan Cosme
- Abstract
The doctrine of purgatory reached its intellectual and popular culmination during the 17th and 18th centuries, after the final support it received at the Council of Trent. Following this, countless manuals and treaties emerged in Spain that analyzed in detail all the aspects inherent to it. One of them referred to the relationship between purgatory and sin. To analyze this issue, we will not only focus on the causes susceptible to purify the soul, but also in other collateral aspects of this matter, such as the particular judgment, the rest of scatological places, concepts of guilt and punishment and types of souls assigned to the Third Place.
