- Abstract
In the present century, production experiences considerable progress and changes when compared to traditional approaches. The automotive industry has changed significantly due to rapid and radical changes experienced in almost every field in the world recently. In fact, the studies carried out to produce solutions to overcome current problems gain far more importance now. It is thought that smart production technologies will radically affect the bus industry in terms of eliminating inefficiencies in the supply chain and transforming traditional production. In this study, used case study method, the production system of a bus factory modernized with 4.0 technologies is examined and it is revealed how the production system has developed and changed. In addition, the study tackles the significance of the Industry 4.0 in smart production with the perspective of bus manufacturers which are an integral component of automotive sector. The Telemetry device, which is produced by the bus company examined in this study, and the XBUS integrated with it, increased the company's total sales year after year in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Besides, the total revenue of their companies increased by 1.9% in 2017, 2.6% in 2018, and 2.7% in 2019. The company needs to adapt quickly to changing production systems and processes in order to survive in the global market. It is thought that this research will shed light on similar sectors in terms of being a case study on Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing applications, which is a new process that will affect all levels of society.
