- Abstract
This article presents the results of a research about regulation of socio-environmental conflicts in the area of influence of Costa do Sauípe Project (Bahia - Brazil). The objective of this work was to analyze the process of regulation of socio-environmental conflicts using a theoretical framework based on an institucionalist sociological approach. However, given the complexity of the observed phenomena, involving various stakeholders and situations, the focus was on the Berimbau Program - Sustainable Development Program of the Costa do Sauípe Project (Bahia - Brazil). This Program aims to create strategies to the generation of income opportunities for the indigenous populations that live around of Costa do Sauípe Project. For this case study, secondary data from internal documents, reports and publications from the key stakeholders was analyzed. Primary data was collected in the field using non-participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. This paper concludes that the Berimbau Program expresses a political-institutional initiative of regulation of socio-environmental conflicts through a set of projects and strategies that takes in consideration the interests of the social actors affected by the Costa do Sauípe Project (Bahia - Brazil).
