- Abstract
The article discusses the implied obligation of attorneys to promote civility and conduct themselves in a more professional manner in the wake of the shooting of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in January 2001. It states that the legal profession has suffered from a lack of professionalism since the 1980s. The role of relational self-interest is examined in terms of attorneys, clients, and the public.
