- Abstract
The article discusses the integration of critical theory into the methodologies used in writing literary criticism. Topics discussed include the contributions of poet T. S. Eliot to critical though and literary criticism, the approaches to poetry interpretation and Eliot's distinction between the permanent and the changing in poetry. Also discussed are the role of personal persuasions and preferences, the emergence of the critic of gusto and the stages of evolution of literary criticism.
