The article presents a study which explored the social construct of physician-patient relation through jokes, based on the Tamil weekly magazine "Ananda Vikatan. The jokes are evaluated based on the contextual analysis of utterances of the illustrated characters and communication between speaker and hearer. The author notes that these jokes have evolved because of globalization and its impact on the medical profession and services.
