- Abstract
Hydrotherapy is one of the non-pharmacological treatment methods, using water as a medium to provide a therapeutic effect. Hydrotherapy has many benefits, one of which is to relax the body, is effective in reducing pain by stimulating the production of endorphins which are neurochemicals that have analgesic properties, reducing levels of neuro-endocrine hormones which are effective for women who are experiencing high pain levels. This type of research is quantitative with a quasi experimental method with a one-group pre-posttest research design. It was carried out in the working areas of the Limboto Health Center, Limboto Barat Health Center and Telaga Biru Health Center Gorontalo Regency from August to September 2021. The sample in this study was 16 pregnant women. The criteria in this study were normal pregnant women in the third trimester, willing to be respondents, back pain and had no problems in their pregnancy. There was a significant difference in the effect of hydrotherapy on back pain in third trimester pregnant women with an -value of 0.00, where the average value of endorphins increased by 122.94 pg/ml. There is a significant difference in the effect of hydrotherapy in reducing back pain in pregnant women and is effective in increasing the levels of endorphins in third trimester pregnant women.
