- Title
Some Reflections on the Campus Protests.
- Authors
HAGER, L. MICHAEL
- Abstract
The ongoing pro-Palestinian protests at American universities are driven by students who are repulsed by the genocide in Gaza and want to end their universities' complicity with the US and Israeli governments and the arms industries. The protests are generally peaceful, with the chaos and violence often brought by pro-Israel counter-protesters and the police. The charge of antisemitism against the protesters is unfounded, and Jews and Jewish organizations play a leading role in the pro-Palestinian campaign. Negotiation has been shown to be more effective than police intervention, and the protests are likely to continue until there is a change in policies and a ceasefire is called.
