Bans on Non-Compete Clauses Benefit Everyone: The Case of Veterinarians.
- Authors
BAKER, DEAN
- Abstract
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently voted to ban non-compete clauses in employment contracts, which are commonly used in the veterinary field. The author shares a personal experience with a veterinarian who would have been prevented from starting their own practice due to a non-compete clause. This vet was able to provide exceptional care to the author's dogs, including treating a heart tumor with a prescribed mushroom and alleviating kidney failure with a probiotic. The author argues that banning non-compete agreements benefits workers, the economy, and society as a whole by promoting competition and allowing individuals to pursue opportunities where their skills are valued.
