- Title
Structural aspects of leg-to-gonopod metamorphosis in male helminthomorph millipedes (Diplopoda).
- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines structural aspects of leg-to-gonopod metamorphosis in male helminthomorph millipedes (Diplopoda). Histology methods and confocal laser scanning microscopy were used to study external and internal changes caused by non-systemic metamorphosis for development of gonopod apodemes and extrinsic muscles. The study shows that internal changes in the seventh trunk ring, leads to the dorsal displacement of the ventral nerve cord and the digestive tract.
