Childhood constipation as costly as asthma.
- Abstract
The article briefly discusses a research in the U.S. showing that the health burden and cost of childhood constipation are as great as that for asthma. The study shows that children with constipation uses more health services than without the condition with an additional estimated cost of $3.9 billion a year. It provides information on the data analysis made by the researchers at the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio on children younger than 18 years who were diagnosed with constipation.
