- Abstract
The microcourse format also facilitates flexible loads for both students and faculty: Students with full, STEM-packed schedules can distribute a three-credit elective over multiple semesters; faculty can also add the courses up to permit a semester with a reduced course load. Our German program at the University of Oklahoma contends with a familiar litany of challenges, both long-term and acute, that make curricular innovation critical to our survival. With the suspension for 2 years of our popular faculty-led summer program in Germany, we lost a key means of providing high-impact learning experiences and building cohorts.
