- Title
Experimental Investigation of Key Parameters on the Effects of Cavity Surface Roughness in Microinjection Molding.
- Authors
Zhang, H. L.; Ong, N. S.; Lam, Y. C.
- Abstract
The article highlights the results of an experimental investigation into the effects of surface roughness on the flow area of a microthickness disk through microinjection molding of polymers. According to the authors, the flow area on the smoother half is larger than that on the rougher half during cavity filling. The surface roughness effect on cavity filling, the authors reveal, is a function of mold temperature, melt temperature and cavity thickness. A linear regression analysis was used to obtain mold and melt temperatures and cavity thickness.
