Zebra and quagga mussel invasion map.
Abstract
The article reports on the results of research wherein a national-scale map was used to determine the next location of quagga and zebra mussels based on calcium concentrations in surface waters in the U.S. From the 48 states studied, the ecoregions comprising nearly 21% of land area were found to be at low risk of mussel invasion. Meanwhile, those with almost 61% of land area were classified as high risk regions.
