- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates the characterization of verotoxigenic Escherichia coli (VTEC) isolates that are prevalence in the faeces of small ruminants and environmental samples of slaughtered sheep and goat in Southern Jordan. The study was administered by collecting animal faecal samples from 233 slaughterhouse sheep and 169 goats through ligation of colon and E. coli isolates was identified using inoculated tryptic soy slants and conventional biochemical activities. The study reveals that 76.2% of the collected samples depicts virulent isolates and E. coli characterization because of the highly pathogenic strain that are sensitive to gentamicin and co-trimoxazole.
