- Abstract
This article discusses Hollywood motion pictures, which reflect the events of D-Day including "The Longest Day" and "Saving Private Ryan." The motion picture "The Longest Day" was directed by Darryl F. Zanuck and starred Red Buttons, Sean Connery, and Henry Fonda. "Saving Private Ryan," was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Tom Hanks, Giovanni Ribisi, and Matt Damon. The differences in emotion driven war films and information driven war films is discussed as well as whether or not particular war films are anti-war or pro-war celebrating the courage of the soldiers.
