- Authors
Bertrand, Romain
- Abstract
The article offers what the author describes as a microhistorical reading of empires as multiple moral worlds. In particular the locales of Manila, the Philippines, Spain and Mexico between the years 1577 and 1580 are explored. Other topics discussed include the notion of global history as it compares to microhistory, Miguel López de Legazpi — the commander-in-chief of the Spanish armada, and insights on many other colonial, military, and historical events in the regions noted above.
