- Abstract
The article examines evidence of the socio-economic transformations in the remote mountain villages since large-scale yarsagunbu collection. It notes that the collection and trade of medicinal plants from Nepal to neighboring countries is an immemorial tradition. The demand and price of yarsagunbu reportedly increased with the rapid economic growth and the rise of wealthy middle class in China after some Chinese women runners won the gold medal at the World Championships.
