- Abstract
Double complex salts [Au(Dien)Cl][PtCl4]·H2O (1) and [Au2(Dien*)Cl4]2[PtCl6]·2H2O (2), where Dien* is diethylenetriamine with a deprotonated imino group, are studied by X-ray crystallography. Crystallographic data are: for 1a = 7.7499(6) Å, b = 11.8307(8) Å, c = 15.2249(9) Å, β = 98.421(2)°, space group P21/c, Z = 2, ρcal = 3.326 g/cm3; for 2a = 6.8579(5) Å, b = 20.0623(14) Å, c = 11.9073(7) Å, β = 93.2020(16)°, space group P21/n, Z = 4, ρcal = 3.491 g/cm3. For gold in 1 the (AuN3Cl) coordination core can be distinguished; in 2, it is (AuN2Cl2). In 1, Dien with three functional groups (nitrogen atoms) has a (1, 2, 3) coordination. In the binuclear [Au2(Dien*)Cl4]+ cation of compound 2, each gold atom is bonded to the middle and one of terminal nitrogen atoms of Dien and it has a new (1, 2)–(2, 3) coordination. The middle nitrogen atom in Dien* is a bridge linking the gold coordination squares through vertices.
