In an autograph draft that is little known but preserved in Oxford, the Queen of Scotland writes to Ronsard to recall the qualities of James V, her own father, in contrast with Henry VIII, her less honorable cousin. She speaks about all the benefits provided by this faithful ally of France. We do not know if Ronsard received the final version of this draft, but he will sketch a positive portrait of the king of Scotland in his "Tombeau de Marguerite de France" (1575).
