- Abstract
The current study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of the reality counseling program and the continuation of this effectiveness in reducing cognitive distortions among university students. The basic study sample included (229) students from the Psychology Department of the Faculty of Arts, Assiut University, distributed according to gender (90 males / 139 females), And for the study group (60 first / 55 seconds / 52 third / 62 fourth), and their ages ranged between (18-24 years), with an average age of (19.93 year), and standard deviation (1.36 year). The experimental study sample consisted of (20) Male and female students, distributed equally into two groups, one of them experimental (10) male and female students, and the other is a control (10) male and female students. The cognitive distortions scale (prepared by Roberts, 2014 and translated into Arabic by the researchers) and the reality counseling program to reduce cognitive distortions were applied to them. The study concluded that there is an effectiveness of the counseling program in reality in reducing cognitive distortions among university students, and the existence of continuity of this effectiveness after the end of the implementation of the program. The researchers interpreted the results of the study and the indications in light of the study data based on the theoretical framework and previous studies, and based on the results of the study, researchers presented a number of recommendations and research proposals.
