- Title
Assessment of a carbon steel quenching effect on residual magnetization using relations between magnetic parameters.

- Abstract
The residual magnetization M dependences of carbon steels on the quenching temperature T are described using relations between the M and the saturation magnetization of the steels, the relaxation magnetization, and coercive force. Many of the reference data on the maximum magnetic permeability μ of carbon steels are shown to be unreliable. Data calculated from the dependence M make it possible to estimate μ of carbon steels quenched from various temperatures T. It is shown that μ possesses the highest sensitivity to changes in T of carbon steels.
