- Abstract
The article focuses on Bryde's whale ( Balaenoptera edeni) which was recorded in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). It says that the U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries performed regular marine mammal surveys in the region since the 1990s. It mentions that whale encounters were screened to determine real-time detections and identify bearings to the sounds.
