- Abstract
The article features one of the threatened fishes of the world, Pseudorasbora elongata, or the slender top-mouth gudgeon of the Cyprinidae family. The slender top-mouth gudgeon is an indigenous specie of China, it is a schooling fish inhabiting in the middle and upper layers of river with clear water. It is distributed in Lijiang River of Guilin and Yangshuo in Guangxi Province, Xinjiang River, upstream of Fuchunjiang River, and Qiupuhe River in Anhui Province. The specie has a fresh light brown color and grayish in the lower part of the body. The threats to Pseudorasbora elongata include habitat degradation and loss due to industrial wastewater pollution and construction of water conservation projects, and electrical fishing with repeated use of ichthyotoxins in the rivers.
