- Abstract
The article presents information on several products related to education. It is informed that Actionmap is a new concept in teaching social studies. Created by Cecil Mowery, assistant principal of the Greham School in Chicago, ActionMap can teach concepts of geography, culture and economy, and generate more enthusiasm than conventional teaching methods. Each map is accompanied by an Actionbook which has many ideas for specific projects, games and activities to spark student participation. Further, the article reports on Phrase Reading Filmstrip, a series of ten 16 mm. training films developed in conjunction with Southern Illinois University. The filmstrip workshop is a 15 minute sound film, in color, entitled "Rapid Results With Phrase Reading." Through a series of actual classroom demonstrations, the filmstrip shows what the program consists of, how it works in various learning situations, and the results that can be achieved. It is accompanied by an informative, 19 page instruction booklet which details research findings.
