- Abstract
A method of ultra-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) was established for the determination of caprylohydroxamic acid (CHA) in cosmetics. The samples were extracted with acetonitrile-water solution(v/v, 45/55) by ultrasound-assisted liquid-liquid extraction. The CHA in toner and emulsion cosmetics was extracted directly. For cream cosmetics, precipitants were used during the extraction of CHA. The extract was separated with BEH Shield RP18 column and detected by tandem mass spectrometry detector in MRM mode. The results show that the linear range of CHA is 2*100 μg/L and the detection limit is 0.03 μg/g. The standard recovery tests at low, middle and high concentration levels reveal good recovery rate. This method is easy to operate and is suitable for the determination of CHA in cosmetics. It provides technical support for the determination of CHA in cosmetics.
