- Abstract
The author offers an overview of the accomplishments of the Third United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS III) adopted on April 30, 1982. He cites that the Convention contains new concepts of international law created in response to technological progress. He states that one major achievement of the Convention has been the ability to reach consensus on important limits on maritime zones of coastal states. He explains the contributions of the Convention on the protection of marine environment and marine scientific research.
