- Abstract
The article focuses on the international enforcement of American arbitration awards. It states that enforcement has always been an important issue in the international commercial arbitration, however foreign trading firms usually carry out awards on good faith to maintain good trade relations. It further states that usually court procedures are not required to secure compliance in a foreign country having different law. It discusses various procedures used for foreign enforcement of American arbitration awards, including provisions in international treaties, comity between the U.S. and the country where award has to be enforced, and by an order from a competent judicial authority in accordance with foreign country's laws.
