- Abstract
The subject of this current study is to investigate in the prevalence of two species of the sand fly (Phlebotomus papatasi and Phlebotomus sergenti) and confirming the diagnosis in Diwanyia province. The samples that used in our study are fifty samples collected from Diwanyia province; the samples are collected randomly then the samples are kept at dry clean plastic container for making polymerase chain reaction test as a molecular test after using specific primer were designed for targeted genes. The final results are showed positive samples of Ph.papatasi is seventeen samples out of fifty samples that represent (34%), while a positive sample of Ph.sergenti was three samples out of fifty samples that represent (6%). It can be concluded that two species of sand fly were Phlebotomus papatasi and Phlebotomus sergenti prevalent in diwanyia province and Ph.papatasi more prevalent than Ph.sergenti.
