- Abstract
This research aims to answer the following research problems: what are the public policies directed to protecting transphobia victims implemented in the State of Ceará? Is the official record of violent death against transgender people in Ceará compatible with the data presented by Antra? The objective is to demonstrate the visibility of violence against the trans population as an essential issue for the exercise of human rights. Ceará stands out as one of the places with the highest number of murders against transgender people in Brazil, while public policies for this group are questioned for their effectiveness or existence. This is a case study, insofar as it uses the murder of Keron Ravach as a guiding element. The research is quali-quantitative, of a pure and descriptive nature, supported by literature review and complementary use of secondary data provided by National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals (Antra) reports. We conclude that among the public policies aimed at protecting victims of transphobia implemented in Ceará are: (I) Oportuniza-Trans; (II) Retifica-Trans e; (III) Assistência Social é de TODXS. It is concluded that the absence of official data is an obstacle to the formulation and impact assessment of existing public policies, and that the lack of a uniform identification methodology for transphobia crimes hinders the management of the problem.
